Chapter 11

Sofitel Paris Baltimore Tour Eiffel Hotel

Fay lay on her room’s balcony sunbed, thinking about life. Soon she, Azrael, and Sasha planned to tour the Notre-Dame de Paris or “Our Lady of Paris.” Our Lady had been fully restored after suffering a devastating fire several years prior. The plan was to meet in the hotel lobby in about an hour.

There came a knock at her door. She thought it might be room service or a room attendant. The voice accompanying the knock proved it to be Azrael.

“Just a moment!” Fay said as she rose from the sunbed and proceeded to the door.

Fay greeted Azrael at the door. “Hi, Azrael. You look great!”

“Hi, ma’am,” Azrael replied. “You look great, too. I was in the hotel fitness center for my daily workout routine. How do you feel today?”

“You know, funny you should ask,” she said. “I was just now laying on the balcony and the Tower is so captivating I tried but couldn’t find an ache or pain I usually contend with.” Fay’s eyes brightened. “So, I guess I am having a good day! Are we still on for Notre-Dame?”

“Yes, we are. I have a feeling when you finally return home, you are going to learn from your doctor you are winning this one,” Azrael encouraged her. “Just like you always do, ma’am.”

Fay laughed. “The jury is still out, I am afraid.”

Azrael offered a knowing smile. “While I was lifting,” she said, “I got a message from Lady K. I wanted to share it with you right away.”

“Of course!” Fay was excited. “Come. Let’s sit on the balcony.”

After they had made themselves comfortable on the two sunbeds, Azrael said, “Like I said, I got a text from Katrinka.”

“I received one from her last night as well,” Fay added.

“Good news and bad news, ma’am,” Azrael cautioned. “So, sit tight.”

A look of concern grew on Fay’s face.

“First she and a car had an incident.” Before Fay could respond, Azrael added, “She is okay. She has a broken foot. Has been to a hospital. They told her the foot will be as good as new in six to twelve weeks.”

“Just her foot?” Fay asked with concern. “Otherwise, she is okay?”

“Ma’am, remember we are talking about Lady K,” Azrael reminded Fay. “She has been doing this kind of stuff since she was, like, thirteen years old.”

“Well, true. But still I need to be concerned.” Fay smiled. “Did she say anything else?”

“She moved to a new location,” Azrael relayed. “Her life is growing more complicated. Good news is, Irishka will be with her. In the meantime, why not text her? Maybe she can meet you?”

Fay said, “I am absolutely thrilled you and Katrinka are forming a bond. I had hoped for the longest time she would find a meaningful girlfriend relationship. We gals sometimes need the outlets to share problems, feelings, thoughts, and successes we get from those close girlfriend bonds. I know she has Irishka as a role model but it’s not the same as a girlfriend bond.
